Reforestation Efforts in Madagascar

Madagascar is renowned for its extraordinary and unique wildlife. Unfortunately, deforestation caused by agricultural expansion and illegal logging has resulted in habitat loss and heightened CO2 emissions. We have partnered with Treeapp to make a difference and ensure Madagascar’s flora and fauna can thrive through passionate and dedicated conservation efforts, reforestation, wildlife preservation and the empowerment of local communities.

Terrestrial Reforestation

Treeapp's local team follows a two-step process that ensures the pioneer fast-growing trees prepare the land so the forest species receive the shade and nutrient-rich environment they need to thrive. The benefits of these reforestation efforts extend across environmental, social and economic sectors, from increased habitat quality, food sources and biodiversity to engaged community conservation efforts and stable jobs for workers at the tree nurseries and planting sites.

Coastal Reforestation

The second prong of the reforestation effort is coastal reforestation, specifically through mangrove planting. This is crucial for conserving biodiversity and protecting coastal populations from the impacts of climate change, acting as a buffer against coastal erosion and extreme weather events and protecting shorelines, essential habitats and local livelihoods.
